Thank You, Aaron Brown…

Since the tragic events of September 11, 2001, there has been a welcome guest in our family room every night at 9 PM, a guest that became a family member after a while, and one that is going to be sorely missed.

Aaron Brown, the host of NewsNight is leaving CNN, according to Jon Klein, president of CNN/U.S. Klein stated that Aaron “will be leaving CNN and is very much looking forward to some well-deserved time off with his family. … On a nightly basis, Aaron has provided our audiences with insight into the events of the United States and the world with eloquence and the highest journalist integrity. … Personally, I will miss Aaron and his wicked sense of humor.”

NewsNight with Aaron will be replaced, or at least the time slot will be filled by, Anderson Cooper 360. Any guesses as to who is hosting the show? I like and respect Anderson’s work, but will very much miss the dry wit and wry humor, the sideways darting of the eyes, and the telltale twitches of the corners of the mouth of Aaron Brown.

Thank you and best wishes to you, Aaron! Hope to have you back on-air as soon as you’re rested and ready to have another go at it.

Aaron is such a class act and the way they handled the changes showed no class. The guy leaves on vacation and is fired. They scrub him from the CNN Web site and then act like he never existed. Hello?? I’m tired of all the tabloid “infotainment” shows on CNN that have replaced real news. I hate em all: Nancy Grace with her sneering and nausiating sensationalism, Larry King, little better, and now Anderson, cute but a lightweight in comparison. I’m done with CNN til they fire Joe Klein and get back to their roots and original mission, giving the best news in the business. Sad that the network has changed for the worse like that.

Yes, how sad indeed. But where do we go? I cannot take FOX and their conservative bias - they might as well be an arm of the GOP. Not really crazy about MSNBC - too busy and cutesy - like their website. ABC, CBS, NBC? Seems I heard they all retired. Maybe Aaron will land on his feet at one of those and help build a new competitor for CNN.

CNN is losing it! Good-Bye Aaron Brown

I was disappointed to see Aaron Brown leave CNN - he was informative and intelligent. I loved to watch him with his quirky half smile and sardonic sense of humor when the news/newsperson became ironic and dim-witted. I’m hopeful that he’ll turn up on another anchor position. I will no longer be watching CNN for my news, it and it’s so called news programs have become no better than another version of FOX news.

I CAN’T STAND Anderson Cooper! Anderson and his storm chasing news reporting… is that what we call real reporting? Where did he get his journalism degree? What is cracker-jacks now giving journalism degrees away in each box? Come on CNN, wake-up! Anderson Cooper is not reporting the news; he is including himself as part of the news.

Good luck to you Aaron - hope to see you soon!

Aaron Brown’s leaving CNN is just one more blow to those of us who have never felt more disenfranchised or left out of current national dialogue. CNN used to be great - mostly unbiased, middle of the road, with enough information to keep us folk out here in Red State podunk feeling like we had some connection with civilization. Where do we go now? CNN and CNN headline news, with tired Wolf Blitzer, cutsey Anderson Cooper, and disgusting “Nancy Disgrace” — not to mention the glitzy all show & no go divided screens - geez, guys, do you think we are complete idiots? Thank God C-Span is still with us. Idahowhiteowl.

I was wondering what happened to Aaron Brown…I mean…one night we tuned in and he was gone…no real mention of him, where he was…when he would be back…etc….what a void on soo many levels. There was something about Aaron…an intangible element…blus color appearance-but obviously bright, articuclate and witty….of course, I did not know him personally…but from (at least) appearances-what a class act! I have never become wedded to any particuclar show, news cast, etc…until watching Aaron a couple of times…..I am sure part of it was the time slot…but I know another part of it was his approach and appeal. I won’t even comment on CNN on this matter, as I have not tuned them in (other than chanel surfing) after Aaron’s departure…not sour grapes…just no appeal or reason to stop and watch CNN….they had a REAL winner with gravitas…and (for some unknown reason) were to near sighted to see it. No disrespect to Anderson Cooper….for his age and experiences, he is accomplished…but there is NO comparison as an anchor…perhaps down the road, but they really have rushed him at their own expense (and Aaron’s). I am hopeful, should he desire it (of course), that some other netwrok and program see Aaron’s abilities and snatch him up…when that happens, I will pick up with tuning him in on a regular basis…until then, CNN is nothing more than glitz and focus groups….just another political animal so to speak. Best wishes to Aaron….I can NOT wait to see him again!!

I can only think there was a secret reason why Aaron was fired: ¿was something he said? ¿was something he was going to said in air? ¿something the government didn´t like?.
It´s not the first time a good journalist is silenced….
