The Center for Artificial Indifference

The Greedy, The Gullible, The Irrational…

Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.
— Voltaire

It has been said that man is a rational animal. All my life I have been searching for evidence which could support this.

— Bertrand Russell

These two seemingly unrelated ideas, when taken together, might well describe what politics is, how and why it works … and doesn’t.

Or perhaps this one sums it up best…

Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it, misdiagnosing it, and then misapplying the wrong remedies.
— Groucho Marx

I can definitely get behind these quotes. As long as I remember that politics is partly entertainment and partly distraction as well as the ponderous operations and intricate machinations of society and its leaders, I may have the right balance. Maybe. Meanwhile, plant a garden and tie your camel.
