The Center for Artificial Indifference

Sound Like Someone We Know?

Human beings are perhaps never more frightening than when they are convinced beyond doubt that they are right.

 – Sir Laurens van der Post

When that human being also has absolute power, I would add to that “never more dangerous”…

We didn’t even need your hint Winston. It’s all too painfully obvious.

Hint, replace W by (putting your) X in the right place on Nov 7th :-)

Stu, you can bet on it. Unfortunately this election will not remove W, but we can cripple him by changing the majority party controlling the House and Senate so they are not just a rubber stamp for him.If we can accomplish that, then he will be removed in the 2008 election. If we fail to change the Congress this time, there may be no 2008 election. He could, and in my opinion would, use his Presidential privilege to indefinitely delay the next election on the grounds of national security. If the Legislative and Judicial branches are solidly in his pocket as they are now, who would stop him? Suddenly we have de facto fascist dictator. Scary…

I can see him trying to disolve Congress before January.

The admission of ignorance is the beginning of wisdom.

I agree, Winston. To me you defined fundamentalism in any form– know it all and don’t allow facts to get in the way of assessment. Scary times

Lorna listens to NPR all day whilst on the mail route. She heard that the general thought is if the Dems win back majority in congress, they will begin investigating impeachment possibilities.

It is a high dream. But Clinton was facing impeachment because he lied about getting a blow job.

    My fave quote:

When Clinton lied, no body died.

Miss Lewinsky had the chance of becoming the most famous courtesan in recent history. But she blew it ;-)

Do you know that sounds just like my boss? And she can’t be voted out of office.

I like that quote, maybe I’ll use it in my blog.

Just kidding, I’m glad you found it so useful.

These are frightening times, in a number of ways.
