The Center for Artificial Indifference

The Separatist Movement, GOP Style…

In a blatently obvious attempt to create distance between themselves and King George, both of our do-nothing Republican Senators, Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander, and all of the Republican Representatives, failed to show for Bush’s visit to Nashville last week. Desperate for someone to accompany the Prez, the White House invited Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper to take a daytrip on Air Force One. Cooper wisely declined, saying he wouldn’t be caught dead preferred to stay in Washington.

None of the Tennessee GOP party brass were on hand, nor was our leading actor and Presidential wannabe, Fred Thompson. And where, oh where, is Billy “The Knife” Frist, just when Bush needed him most? I’ve always heard it’s lonely at the top, but this…

Prez has isolated himself, making it clear he doesn’t care a fig for what anyone else thinks (except, I guess, for his inner circle). Who wants to be seen with anyone like that?

Oh this is too funny. No one wants to be near him! Can’t say that I blame them.

I’m sorry. I’m still having a problem believing that little Bobby Corker’s a senator. What were Tennesseeans thinkin’??? (Bobby was a year behind me at Chattanooga High School - the oldest and greatest public secondary school in the South. Go Dynamos!)

Laughing here. I think these guys are smarter than you thought, Winston. Then again, rats are always the first off a sinking ship!

a lot of them don’t want to be seen with him but when the votes come along, they are there voting to protect him. Very frustrating times

This is great news, but there is such a lock on reporting events as important as this, that it won’t be broadcast outside of Tennessee. The reporters are worried that the mean son-of-a-bitch will put anthrax in their coffee. (Hint: he did it before, and he can do it again). But wait, why do I always think the worst of this administration? They caught the guy with the anthrax right? A lone nut with a germ warfare weapon?
