1984: Are We There Yet?
… let me tell you how bad it could get: There’s a character in 1984, O’Brien, a member of the elite who runs the country and describes what he thinks the future will look like: “All competing pleasures will be destroyed. But always — do not forget this, Winston — always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless.”

I saw your website and all the blgs are very good, so you have the opportunity to sell space ads on you blogs… And i can’t find another way to contact you, sorry…
[And you did not look very hard Mr. Vladimir Robot! I edited the comment down to this opening remark. The dude or dudebot was trying to sell me something here to make money for him or its self. Have seen the identical comment spam on several other blogs, including same URLs, but under different names. Death to the spammers! -- Winston]
I agree wholeheartedly, Winston. We should go for the rare sensation of trampling on this helpless, pathetic enemy of the people.
You may have noticed that he visited my site as well, prompting me for the first time to activate my magic comment-moderating module.
good reminder on 1984 and those spammers are why so many have the letter verification which inconveniences all legitimate commenters but is needed. Very frustrating. I find if I use the letters for awhile, I am removed from their lists, then can stop verification for a bit until they find me again.
Haven’t been favored with that particular bit of spam.
Power has always intoxicated some folks, I’d say. Don’t get me started on the politicians of our day.
