The Road To Lemniscus…
If you know where Lemniscus is, raise your hand. Wrong. None of us has been there either … yet. And acutually, lemniscus is not a place, but the root origin of lemniscate, the name of the symbol for infinity. Yeah, you know the one … it looks like the number eight (8) fallen over on its side, thusly:
. Lemniscus is the Latin root meaning ribbon.
Did you learn something new today? You are welcome. So did I…

Thank you. I shall have to think of a way to bring that up in conversation. There’s something clcking in my head; let’s think now. “All these symbolic ribbons that people wear: they’re almost lemniscate in shape, don’t you think? Which is doubly interesting as lemniscate does in fact come from the Latin for ribbon.”
wow…din’t know that…now I do…tanks’…did you look that up or did someone tell you?…I like looking up words in the dictionary…would like to use them but my fear is I’ll know the word and meaning..but can’t pronounce the word…
I thought the lemniscus was that little bit of padding behind the patella. Hmm. It infinitely gives me pain, so perhaps they’re related?
I so often learn things when you write…and I love that!
Yes….I learned something new today….as I always do when I visit the Winstonian Encyclopedia…..where the motto is……
“A DAY WITHOUT WINSTON IS A DAY WITHOUT WISDOM.”
Another of your students… bowing.
