- PASSWORDS: When you’re creating a new password, why does the software show asterisks to hide from you what you’re typing?
- FASHION: When the Hispanic population in the US surpasses 50%, will guayaberas be acceptable for all American men, even for formal evening wear? I hope so. They are so comfortable. Plus they mask so many physique flaws…
- BIG BROTHER: I saw a stack of shrink wrapped bundles of logs outside a convenience store. They were marked USDA Certified Firewood. What does that mean? Some piece of our tax dollar is used to fund a group within a division within a department within a bureau whose sole mission is to look at firewood and certify that, Yep, it’s firewood, alright.
- CALL FOR RECOUNT: Mono- means one. I have a shirt with a monogram consisting of three initials. Whaaat…?
re Passwords : It’s to prevent shoulder surfers, CCTV cams etc from seeing the password. Always cover your typing hand with the other one when keying in passwords, PINs, etc to avoid (CCTV) surveillance.
Now I’m going to have to look up guayaberas and see what they are!
Happy Saturday!
Just a guess here but the Dept of Agriculture certification may be that it is not infested with bugs. That is what they do with hay that is transported to other counties so they do not spread weed seeds. But it sure sounds funny.
So that would really be a Triogram then??
Guayabaras are to men what mu-muus are to women, you say?
Funny post, thanks for the chuckle.
As for “monograms,” here’s the skinny. In this instance the “mono” part does not hark back to Latin (or Greek) for “single.” No, it comes from the Spanish “mono,” meaning “monkey.” So “monogram” means a message for a monkey, meaning the person wearing it, so that person can, if they forget, use the initials (mine are G E R) as a sort of mnemonic to recall their name.
That password thing is so annoying. The number of times I have to delete and start again as I’m not sure if I got it right.
What are guayaberas? I’ll have to google.
